Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Sift together
3 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
Stir together
2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix together then add
3 cups
chopped Granny Smith apples
(note from me--we used Gala apples because they were on sale)
(note from my sister--now I don't like hunks of apples so I grate mine)
1 cup chopped walnuts (note from me--we don't care for nuts nor are they in the budget so no nuts in mine)
Pour into greased and floured pan (My daughters used silicone pans so we did not grease & flour. Had they used my glass loaf pans we would have sprayed with non-stick spray)
Bake 1 hour or till done
I'm still craving pumpkin bread, banana bread and cinnamon swirl bread but we didn't get to those today. What is your favorite type of sweet bread?
I make wonderful banana bread but have never attempted apple bread. I have all the ingredients and might try that recipe today. I even have walnuts and do like them.
ReplyDeleteIf you try it please let me know what you think. We thought it was really good. If you are willing to share, I would love to have your banana bread recipe. We plan to make that tomorrow. My DIL is going to have a baby any min (due date was 20th) and we thought we would make these breads to have for her and my son when they come home from the hospital. Of course, I will taste test them as they come out of the oven! :)
DeleteLooks like someone might have started cutting the cake before it got good and cooled and had time to age a little...lol That's ok, always better when it is warm slathered with butter.
ReplyDeleteLOL! "Age a little???" The house smelled so wonderful while it was baking we decided 5 min cooling time was probably about right! You didn't tell me I was suppose to let it "age a little!"
DeleteHow nice that you and the girls cook together - does look great.
ReplyDeleteIt is really nice to have them as friends as well as daughters. LOL! Cooking together does get complicated sometimes.... All three of us were adding ingredients and then the end result on the first batch looked thick as playdoh. We had to call my sister and figure out what we left out, but it worked out in the end. I guess it took 4 of us to get that batch made. How many women does it take to mix up one easy recipe? LOL! In our family at least 4!
DeleteLove this bread! Easy to make :)
ReplyDeleteHi sweetie! You did good, even with Becky and I helping! Linda thought we were going to let this "age," like anything that smells good in this house has a chance to sit around! We need to make a third batch as she says it is really good slathered with butter so we better give it a try.
