Last month I listed some adult Christmas books I like. One was The Christmas Jars by Jason F. Wright. If you have read it and enjoyed it you might like to read this short follow-up story by the author:

I enjoy reading his newspaper columns. If you are interested you can read them here:

I do not live in a large town. Actually I live in the country and rarely know what is going on in our small community that is my address city. However we made the news recenly when our city council voted to cut off water to those homes that were 20 days past due on their water bills. The homes they shut off represented 35% of the town. Now they not only have to pay the past due amounts, they have to pay a $50 fee to restore service. I have a large jar of coins I have been saving and wondering what to do with them. Now I think I have an idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing that would be to some family. I don't know what the normal length of time for cutoff is for a typical city but 20 days past due seems a little harsh. I used to work at Xcel Energy (electricity) call center and most people really wanted to pay their bills but some times circumstances were heartbreaking.
DeleteRead the book last week and loved it.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you are reading of his titles next. I forgot that I did read the Wednesday Letters and loved it.
DeleteI thank you for the link to the columns.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. I enjoy reading them. Hope you have a good week. Stay warm!
